TUWAI CLEARED TO PLAY

Digicel Fiji 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula was bouyed earlier today by the news forward Pio Tuwai had been cleared to travel by the Fiji rugby medical team.

“Yeah it’s great news” Tanivula said.

“We gave a Pio run yesterday afternoon and we were waiting to see how the ankle would react this morning – there’s no swelling, so he’s fine.”

Tuwai’s inclusion in the side means reserve forward Turuva Lumelume, who was initially bracketed in the side with Tuwai, is now omitted.

Earlier today the Digicel Fiji 7s team were guests at the signing of the official partnership between BSP (formerly Colonial) and Digicel.

The partnership sees BSP getting branding rights with the Digicel Fiji 7s team – most notably on the playing shorts.

In officially announcing the partnership BSP Country Manager Kevin McCarthy spoke of Colonial’s past backing of Fiji rugby and hinted of even stronger support by BSP in the future.

” BSP recognises Colonial’s long and fruitful association with Fiji rugby. We are excited with this continued association for the development of rugby in Fiji. This joint partnership will take our support of rugby to a new level and marks the first step in BSP’s relationship with rugby and the Fiji Rugby Union.”

McCarthy added, ” Rugby 7s continues to grow as a sport and has an increasingly wide appeal across all racial, gender, social and age groups; BSP is therefore excited about this new partnership with the Digicel Fiji 7s.”
